Post Concert Reflections

It’s hard to even begin describing our post-concert feelings, but the sentiment shared by every Kazan member was definitely one of intense pride and accomplishment in last night’s performance. For our graduating senior class, it was a dynamic and emotional last concert to finish off an amazing 3-4 years in Kazan Taiko. And, for our newest members, it was the culmination of a year’s worth of growth from seeing people who had never picked up a drum stick before now playing with spirit and confidence on stage.

Over the last few months especially, its amazing to think of how much we have accomplished. We learned three new collaboration pieces, added two new songs to our repertoire, re-vamped almost half our existing songs, overhauled our entire costuming wardrobe, and debuted a new generation piece, just to name a few. There were definitely moments when we weren’t sure if we’d be able to pull off our vision for this spring concert, but looking back on it now, it is safe to say that we far surpassed our goals. Undoubtedly, this was our best spring concert yet, and we can only move forward from here.

Lastly, Kazan Taiko would like to thank everyone again for taking the time to come out and support us last night, because without you all, we wouldn’t have been able to have a concert in the first place. It has been an amazing journey preparing for this concert, and we couldn’t be more proud of the show. It seems a long way off at the moment, but we encourage you all to stay tuned next spring for Kazan’s future 7th annual spring concert!
